Methamphetamine (Meth) Inspection
WHAT IS METHAMPHETAMINE
Methamphetamine also known as ‘meth’ or ‘ice’—is an illegal and dangerous drug that has risen in prevalence. The rise of methamphetamines has not only seen the increase of use in properties (rentals etc.) but also an increase in the ‘home’ manufacturing of the drug (meth labs). Many landlords are now learning that some tenants are using their rental properties for the production of the drug. Additionally, some new home buyers are finding they have bought properties which have previously been used to produce the drug.
WHO NEEDS A METH INSPECTION?
Living in a house which has previously been used to manufacture or consume meth can pose serious health risks. Therefore it is crucial for potential home buyers and even landlords to have a methamphetamine inspection by Jim’s Building Inspections. If you are a landlord and suspect your property is being used or has been used for the production of methamphetamine, then it is essential you acquire an inspection to assist in the protection of your investment property.
WHAT’S INVOLVED IN A METH INSPECTION?
Our methamphetamine inspection service involves onsite testing by a qualified inspector. The tests are used to detect the presence of methamphetamine residue (present at qualities above the safe level of .50µg per 100cm2). These safety recommendations are executed in accordance with the Australian Clandestine Remediation guidelines. If the test produces a positive result for dangerous levels of methamphetamine, further testing and laboratory analysis will be undertaken in order to confirm the result and provide further insight.
