Mat is our Dandenong building consultant and has over 20 years’ experience throughout the building industry. Whilst attending University Mathew was working for a builder completing demolition work and cleaning bricks. From this he was offered a job as an Apprentice Carpenter, which he began in 1997.
On completion of his apprenticeship, Mat worked as a subcontractor for a number of years before taking on the role of an Industry Training Officer working with people with a disability. This was a rewarding but challenging position that involved supporting individuals to work in the building and construction field. From there he completed an Advanced Diploma in Management and eventually moved into a Senior Management Role overseeing Property, Infrastructure Development and Maintenance.
Mathew was researching the building and housing assessments required under the National Disability Insurance Scheme and stumbled across the services offered by Jim’s Building Inspections. The diversity, scope and customer service aspect of the Jim’s Building Inspections business struck a chord with Mat, and so he decided that instead of being a JBI customer, he wanted to join the team – purchasing a franchise in 2018.
On a personal note Mathew enjoys playing Hockey, boating and fishing. He is a supporter of the Melbourne Ice (Ice Hockey Team) and the Western Bulldogs and is interested in in gold prospecting and researching family histories.
FUN FACT: Mathew plays bass guitar and is currently playing with a Melbourne Pub Rock band called Grouse House.
